The Cumnock Show and the fastest Lawn Mowers in NSW*

*Who knows if they’re really the fastest? Have a watch of the video below and make up your own mind!

Allworths was back at the Cumnock Show in late March, for our fourth year running, with a contingent consisting of Mark, Keri and David C. Here’s a quick recap of the fun and memorable time we had revelling in all that country life has to offer.

The Cumnock Show is a family-orientated agricultural show that celebrates and promotes the local produce and talent in the Cumnock area of NSW. We originally became involved through our long relationship with the Westons, a local family, including: Peter, Isabel, David, Mark and Christine.

We love any opportunity to escape the city, especially to spend time with our country friends, and this event is always a great time. However, given one of the worst droughts on record is still ongoing, numbers were expected to be low at this year’s show for obvious reasons.

Thankfully, the night before the show, the local area (plus a good part of rural NSW) was blessed with a large downpour. Despite the lower than normal attendance, spirits had clearly been lifted and there were smiles all around.

Keri (who had never before ventured over the Blue Mountains!) especially enjoyed the show and, having been greeted with true country hospitality, ended up taking part in the show by awarding prizes and waving the chequered flag for the Lawn Mower Race.

Now, the Lawn Mower Race holds a special place in our hearts and, as Champion Sponsors, we never miss it. City people don’t quite realise just how these mowers go. That’s why this year, Mark “Steady Hands” Copsey shot a video to share the noise and thrills with you. Congrats to this year’s winner (pictured below)!

Have a watch and imagine how quickly you could get your mowing done on one of these…

Mark also participated in the log-sawing competition and, together with his partner, won his heat. Forgetting their various aches and pains, Mark and Dave enthusiastically joined in the tug of war, where they also prevailed, thanks in large part to the burly farmers they had on their team. But a win is still a win!

Once again, a big Thank You to the Cumnock community for making us feel welcome. We are proud to continue our association with and support of this great community event.
